Yesterday, I had an appointment here, with my Orthopaedic surgeon. He comes down from Adelaide about every eight weeks. It is great, as it is very conveniant for country folk who can't get to the 'Big Smoke'. He was very pleased with me, and my success, so far, with my weight loss.
I have nearly reached the desired weight at which he will perform the knee replacement surgery.
I had written to him, several months ago, to ascertain how much I had to lose, but had never received a reply. He was less than pleased about that! He had the letter in my case notes, and looked at it again, and said he had written all over it. It was indeed scrawled on in red ink. I daresay his P.A. will get an earwigging. He also said, "You saw Dr. W, didn't you?" I said no, I had canceled that visit, as Dr. W. specializes in stomach banding. I said I had told him I would not let anyone do that to me, and in any case, I don't need it, do I? He said 'No, you don't'.
My doctor (yesterday) thought I would need help in losing weight, as I can not excercise. He probably did more to galvanize me into action, than either of us realize. That, and the fact I was dangerously close to becoming a Diabetic. That prospect filled me with horror! I see him again in July, with the expectation of doing the surgery in Sept/Oct. Watch this space!
